How I Spent My FCBD

I actually was signing my novel (now available in paperback! GLEE!) at my local shop, the one where I worked for a number of years actually. I sold a few copies, which made my day because I was under the impression that nobody reads novels anymore.

Anyhow, the cool part was that I was signing next to Terry Moore, who lives here in Houston and we BS'd for like three hours talking about all kinds of things. What it's like working for Marvel, where the best concert spots in Houston are, how nostalgia crazes are coming too close to the things we're supposedly nostalgic for...really random stuff to be honest.

One of the coolest things we talked about was his run on Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane, where he said he was happy that editorial gave him more leeway because it wasn't a mainline continuity book whereas when he was working on Runaways he had people limiting his options the whole way through. He told me a joke he pitched to Editorial to spin off the Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane series into some others like Spider-Man Loves Gwen Stacy, Spider-Man Loves Black Cat, and ending with Spider-Man loves Harry Osborn. Don't hold your breath for those mini-series to come out anytime soon.

Myself with Terry (Runaways, Strangers in Paradise) Moore.

^ and that's my attempt at a Batman sketch. I think it's apparent why I became a writer.
